FAMILY ministry

LOVE INCLUDE SERVE

Come join in the fun and connection of our Family Ministry!

Each Sunday, children of all ages are encouraged to start their morning with the congregation in the sanctuary. As we begin our worship celebrations, children are welcome to join us up front for a “Children’s Moment,” where we talk about a topic that is similar to what the congregation will hear about during the service. Children are then invited to attend Sunday School in other areas of the church, led by our qualified volunteers.

Our Sunday School program is all about teaching our young people to be disciples of Jesus through love, service, justice, and inclusion. Our lessons are based on progressive Christian theology that values openness, compassion, and abundant grace. Doubts and questions are welcome here!

We currently have two Sunday School classrooms: one for preschool, kindergarten and first graders, and another one for second through fifth graders. We plan on adding a Youth class (for sixth graders and above) in the near future!

Inter-generational Activities
At First Church we believe that our lives and our faith are enriched when we connect with people of all ages. There are frequent opportunities for our young people and our elders to gather together in community. These events vary. Sometimes we do service together, other times we’ll share a meal or cook together, and sometimes we’ll go on a fun outing together. Our inter-generational activities seek to build bridges between people of all ages. We all have something to learn from one another!

Kids and adults alike played Bingo on Valentine’s Day, while enjoying some Valentine’s themed desserts. The Bingo winners picked out gift cards to donate to Hosea Youth Services!
